Happy New Month! October is one of my favorite months. And We Thank God for New Seasons. Today Our study is from the Book of Acts. Chapter 17, (Please read the complete chapter to get the fullness of God’s Words). I’m reading verses 10-12 which jumped from the page. Let’s read it, Amen. 10) That very night the Believers sent Paul & Silas to Berea. When they arrived there, they went to the Synagogue. 11) And the People of Berea were more open - minded than those in Thesalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul Message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to check up on Paul & Silas, to see if they were really teaching the truth .12) As a result , many Jews believed as did some of the prominent Greek women and many men.
Let’s go deeper with these verses. Here we see the Bereans searched and studied the scripture to check and see if Paul messages were true. In the original Greek the word searched is translated as scrutinized . They knew they trusted the Scriptures and could use it as a barrier and a standard to evaluate other teachings.
And just as the Bereans we must do the same in this day. Everything we know about God is in Scripture .We also know that it is Life for God’s People . Being vigilant in studying the Scriptures helps us to determine the truth from the false in someone teachings. If we don’t stay in the Word of God , we could easily be caught in a trap or snare of false teachings. But , when we are in constant study with Our Teacher , the Holy Spirit. We will be able to distinguish the truth from false. One true fact still remains , We must read and study the Bible for ourselves. We are living in times where many voices are speaking and teaching. Remember to Rightly divide the Word of Truth .( 2 Timothy 2:15) Amen. Stay blessed in Him
